Seattle-based Olson Kundig will make its Arizona debut designing a luxury community at the base of Camelback Mountain.
Vancouver, Canada-based based Replay Destinations tapped the highly lauded Olson Kundig to design the last phase of its Ascent at The Phoenician luxury condominium community, which will sit at the highest point of the Ascent development.
Of the 63 luxury condos, four signature penthouses boast 10-foot glass panels that open a corner of each unit to offer an indoor-outdoor experience. Spanning nearly 5,000 square feet, those four units will be priced from $7 million to more than $10 million, said Todd Patrick, vice president of sales and marketing for Replay Destinations.
The other units will range between 1,570 square feet and nearly 3,000 square feet and will be priced starting at $2.3 million.
Construction is expected to begin this summer, with completion expected in late 2027.
Ascent at The Phoenician is an $800 million residential community spanning 25 acres that already has achieved more than $500 million in sales. Replay Destinations originally paid $30 million for 32 acres in 2020 , and turned around and sold 51 finished lots to Cullum Homes for $30 million.
Of the 200 condos it is building, Replay Destinations has sold 123 units, Patrick said.
“We only have seven left of our current phase under construction that completes in September, which takes us to the last and final phase of the 63 homes that Olson Kundig is doing,” Patrick said.
Nelsen Partners, which had been the architect for the first part of the development, will remain involved in the last phase, focusing on the technical drawings, while Olson will be in charge of the overall design, character and feel
of the community, Patrick said.
Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is handling sales for the entire project, including the new community called Summit by Olson Kundig.
At the top of each of the 3-story buildings will be a garden terrace with canopy trees and soft sofa seating that can be used by all the owners. It won’t need an outdoor kitchen because the homes will already have one. It also won’t need a pool because Ascent’s own Mountain Club pool and fitness amenities are right next door to the project, Patrick said.
“You literally fall into the pool,” he said.
The community is next to The Phoenician, where homeowners have access to the resort’s amenities.
About two months ago, Replay Destinations opened its U.S. headquarters in Scottsdale that will oversee projects in surrounding states, including California and Utah.
“We would love to take our knowledge from the Ascent project and do more in Arizona,” Patrick said.
